Several people study charts in a marketing meeting

If you feel stuck with your marketing, you are not alone. Many small businesses and charities are doing their best with limited time, tools and support — and the pressure to “do more” can make things worse, not better.

So let’s keep it simple. Here is a calm, clear way to get started or reset.

1. Understand your audience

Before you worry about platforms or content, come back to this: Who are you trying to reach?

A few prompts to help:

  • What do they care about?
  • What problems are they trying to solve?
  • What do they need from you?
  • Where do they already spend time online?

Even rough answers will give your strategy direction.

2. Choose your core channels

You do not need to be everywhere. You just need to show up where it makes sense.

Focus your energy by asking:

  • Where is your audience active already?
  • Where are you most comfortable posting?
  • What could you realistically manage week to week?

One or two consistent channels will go further than five neglected ones.

3. Reuse what you already have

You might not need to create from scratch. Most teams are sitting on useful material without realising it.

Look for content you can:

  • Update or reshare
  • Break down into smaller pieces
  • Turn into tips, FAQs or posts

Start there before planning new ideas.

4. Set one or two clear goals

Without a goal, it is hard to know if your marketing is working. You do not need a long dashboard — just pick something meaningful.

Your goal might be:

  • More visitors to your website
  • More people joining your email list
  • More enquiries or bookings

Simple, real goals help you focus and track what matters.
